My family of four - love!!
Time to celebrate...the blood cultures are officially considered NEGATIVE!! Adios E. Coli!
Along the same lines (no pun intended - ha), Brenna's umbilical line is gone, and the PICC line is successfully inserted in her arm! Hopefully the new line will work well, and with the removal of her umbilical line, there is much less risk of infection - yea!
We are continuing to decrease the humidity in Brenna's bed, but we went back to Aquafor treatments every three hours instead of six, which we are glad about since her skin was starting to look pretty dry.
We also got some more good news today - we are going to get to hold her twice a day now! I absolutely love cuddling with my precious girl and am so grateful that we are getting to have more of that bonding now.
What progress our girl is making! I know that we have people across the world praying for these big steps toward health and coming home, and God is sure listening to our prayers!
Our family has "adopted" your family as part of our morning and night prayers. We talk about Brenna and her progress on a regular basis. Your family has never met us and most likely never will, but you have left a mark on us that will never go away. I have to check your blog everyday and read and reread your posts. They touch me so deeply as a mother. My children all want to hear about Brenna's progress. My mom asks me all the time about Brenna! (She is 70 and does not use the computer, email, facebook, or cell phones!!) You have a fan club with us and we will continue to pray and follow you all as long as you allow us. Thank you for being so open and sharing your special girl. We love her so much! We are in awe of your family. Your strength inspires me to go a little further in my own life. Thank you for sharing!! God bless you!

ReplyDeleteNow that is one good lookin' family! Tiny high fives on the PICC line, and great big hugs on beating down that infection! You can see it in Brenna's eyes how much she loves being cuddled. It's funny how the tiniest of people are sometimes the strongest <3 You guys are always in our thoughts and we're praying for you every single day!

ReplyDelete"Many are they increased that trouble me. Many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say, . . . "There is no help." But Thou, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the lifter of my head"!!!! Hallelujah!!!
I just found your blog this morning on Facebook from Pastor Judy at Oakford United Methodist Church. I have sat just now and read your entire blog from start to finish. Your story is so touching and your baby girl Brenna is absolutely beautiful. Your love for her and eachother is obvious...I truly believe that you were hand picked by God to receive this precious little girl. Our family will be praying for all of you and I will be checking back regularly to see her progress! The doctors and nurses at St John's are amazing to say the least. We have been there in the PICU once with each of our two boys and I can't say enough good things about them...Brenna is in very good hands. :) Also, thank you for sharing the story about Baby Mackenzie, her mom Emily is my cousin and they are wonderful people. Your story is amazing and inspiring...thank you for sharing it with us.
