Writing this blog has been such an emotional outlet for me and has allowed me to document all of the ups and downs since Brenna's arrival into our lives.
From the time I started the blog, I had such an urge to also write a book someday....and finally yesterday, I decided to make some time to sit down and write.
I don't have any idea where this will lead...but I do have a beginning and four pages written now, so that's progress in my opinion! I am completely enjoying this process so far, so I hope one day it ends up as a published hard copy! (or soft cover, I'm not picky :) ) But if not, it will be an amazing journal for my children to hold on to.
On that note, if any of my blog followers have great connections into the publishing world, get a hold of me ;)
That is awesome! I would love to read it:)
ReplyDeleteI recently subscribed to a magazine called Writers Digest. It was recommended, on Amazon, by a lady from whom I have followed in her book review comments. I buy what she recommends. She also writes, and recommended this magazine. It is rather overwhelming because thanks to the i-net there are many forms of publishing available now, of course including e-books. I read the magazines and take it a month at a time. There are also contests but I've been too busy (and chicken) to enter any YET. To be honest, some of the contestant winners I have read I don't feel write nearly as well or as passionately as you (or me for that matter :) but they are DISCIPLINED! I'm trying to write as well, about some of the situations I've been confronted with in life. Look it up -- www.writersdigest.com. You need to write. It's good for you, and it's good for other people. It's doing God's work. Prayers headed your way.
ReplyDeleteThere is also the option to have your blog printed as a book using www.blog2print.com. I plan to do that for my kids :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's a local publishing company in Springfield called Charles C Thomas Publishers. They usually publish text books, but maybe they might be interested in a local story! Their number is 789-8980. Good luck with your writing!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow Illini grad (I lived at 4H House) and have been following your blog since just after Brenna's birth. I also have a great friend in Champaign who has stage 4 breast cancer and recently wrote a book. She self published it using hulu.com. She said they have packages you can purchase to help with publishing and marketing, but she did not choose to use those. Her book is now on Amazon.com and she has sold hundreds to family and friends. If you would like her contact info to learn more about what she did, please let me know and I can connect you two.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, as a special education teacher and a Christian, I am thoroughly addicted to your story and am so anxious to see Brenna continues to progress. Christ has certainly blessed your family and you have blessed many by sharing your journey!
God Bless!
Hi. My name is Heather, and while I'm not a publisher, I have experience editing. My BA is in English, and my MA in Teacher Leadership is from Univ of IL, Springfield. If you would like editing help or just have questions about anything from commas to organization, feel free to send me a note (rally_aussie at yahoo). I've been reading your blog from day one and have been waiting for an opportunity to offer some sort of help, and editing is certainly an area I am familiar with. I am not local, but my preacher can vouch for me. :-D
