My Beautiful Brenna,
Today, December 19, you are one year old.
What a year this has been.
Everyone has remarked how this year has flown by. But I disagree. This feels like the longest year of my life as so much of it was focused on the present, on each minute and each hour. The time before you were born feels like a lifetime ago.
And yet, the past year has brought so much to our lives to be grateful for - a closer family, unconditional love on a whole new level, a stronger faith and relationship with God...and you. Watching you grow and (finally!) gain weight. Seeing your smiles when I say "are you a BIG GIRL!?" and hearing your squeals when you see the kitty cat walk by. Experiencing your first laugh just last week as I tickled your belly with my nose.
You have a determination that is unrivaled by babies your age. A fighting spirit that most people only wish for. A personality that will conquer the world.

Brenna, you are getting stronger every day. You have just started actually bouncing in your jumperoo, putting weight on your legs and using your muscles. I think once spring hits and your skin isn't as dry or sore, there will be no stopping you. You also think it's funny to sit on Connor's bed with a pillow behind you - you will flop back against the pillow and then pull yourself back up to sitting position. I'm amazed at your core strength.
Pee-a-Boo rocks your world, and even strangers can usually get smiles out of you by covering their faces and playing Peek-a-Boo...as long as Mommy or Daddy is holding you still of course!
Sometimes when you're sleeping, I stare at you for a minute or two and am mesmerized by how perfect you are. We constantly comment on how tiny your nose is, how beautiful your lips are, how intensely blue your eyes are. Crayola needs to make a color that is your eye color :)
Brenna, if your first year of life is any indication of your future....you are going to change the world. We are so proud you are our daughter.
