Before the year turns into next, I figure I need to finish my little series of Christmas posts.
On Christmas Eve this year - as every year - we attended the Christmas Eve Children's Mass with my parents and brother. The rest of the evening was spent relaxing at home, eating a delicious dinner of appetizers and chili and opening our traditional Christmas Eve ornaments from my mom.
All dressed up after mass. Brenna was glad to get home and out of her outfit, because albeit super adorable, the top was quite snug. Baby girl is a chunky monkey these days :)
We spread reindeer food in the yard this year, to ensure that the reindeer had no trouble finding out house...
The calm before the storm - our tree waiting for Santa to arrive.
Christmas Eve is such an amazing opportunity to reflect on Jesus. On the most wondrous gift God could give us. God created our earth, our world, and then chose to live among us...and then to die for us. I don't think it is something I will ever be able to wrap my mind around. It was a night, long ago, when a king was born...to two very young people who were entrusted to care for this child as he grew up to spread God's profound love on this earth.
In a season that can easily become overwhelmed with shopping, baking, planning Christmas parties and making lists to Santa, we slowed down this year. To remember what is important, to teach our children the best that we could about giving and helping others, and to express gratitude to God for all that he has given to our family, and to the world.
Christmas morning didn't come any earlier than usual for us, thankfully :) The kids were up around 7:30, and waiting for them was this...
Connor was having trouble with all of the presents...he wanted to stop after each one and get that one out to play with!
Flo's V8 Cafe from Cars!
Brenna is intrigued by her new taggie blanket
She enjoys a good gift unwrapping for the most part...the wrapping paper and ribbons catch her interest. Later at my cousin's house, however, Brenna had had enough excitement for the day. Too sleepy for presents...
With my parents and brother
And then much later, that afternoon, we continued our Christmas Day adventure with a trip out to Evan's parents' house for a celebration with his mom's side of the family. Whew....busy day!

Here's to looking forward...2012 was a rough start for us, with some bumps along the way, but finished out with a bang. I am certain that 2013 will bring many new and wonderful opportunities for our family - and hopefully lots of health and happiness! - and I can't wait to see what's in store :)
